This is a great fishfinder for the price! The only problem I had with the unit, was the connection for the transducer. The screen continually showed demo mode and I couldn’t figure out why. If the transducer connection is not pushed into the quick release housing enough, it will stay in demo mode. Pushed the connector in and it works flawlessly. Great product.

Can someone clarify if this unit has the big-honkin’ transducer plug that the previous series of garmin fish finders had? The plug required an extra large hole be drilled during installation of the transducer wires. Putting a big hole in my boat console and transom are not an option. I really hope that problem was fixed with this echo series. I need this question answered before I can consider this item for purchase.
PS I do not own this unit, I was required to give a rating to ask this question. Do not use my 4 stars as a reason to buy or not buy this fish finder.
